Yoga has been practiced for nearly 5000 years, often in conjunction with meditative techniques. It began as an ancient Indian religious rite and evolved into a spiritual and physical practice that benefits users from all walks of life. Regularly practicing yoga can rejuvenate the body, and open one’s connection to the soul.
The most evident physical benefit of yoga is increased flexibility, but that just scratches the surface of what yoga can do to transform your body. Specific yoga poses can reduce back pain, or help develop better coordination. After regular yoga sessions, you may start to notice your posture and balance improve, and small aches and pains begin to disappear.
Regular meditation can help release tension from the body, and take with it stress-related ailments like headaches. Meditation can help improve sleep and eliminate insomnia, which can lead to better focus, and less irritation throughout the day.
The mental benefits of regular yoga and meditation cannot be overstated. Yoga and meditation are designed to align both your physical and mental energy and help you feel more grounded and centered. By looking inward, and focusing on being one with your own body, stress and anxiety melt away. By releasing negative thoughts from your mind, you can find a new clarity and outlook on life, and begin to take your life in the directions you choose.
At Om’echaye, we offer an array of different yoga techniques, all which focus on a different facet of wellness.
Iyengar yoga focuses on posture, or asana, and breath control, or pranayama. With this practice, props, like blocks or blankets, are used to help develop proper asana and strengthen the body.
Kundalini yoga combines movement, breath work, meditation, and the chanting of mantras to create mind, body, and spirit alignment. Kundalini is the energy that is stored at the base of the spine. The goal of this practice is to transfer this energy throughout the body, remove any toxins from the blood, and bring fresh oxygen to teach extremity. Participants will leave feeling refreshed, renewed, and rejuvenated.
At Om’echaye, our instructors are trained in the art of teaching yoga and are here to share their extensive knowledge with you. With their expert guidance, you can be well on your way to creating the life you deserve. We have classes to fit every schedule and budget and create a safe and relaxing environment for everyone no matter your skill level.
Precision and understanding of the body are vital in this method. The practice of asanas is considered a starting point of spiritual practice.
In this method the use of props (blocks, belts, bolsters, blankets, and so on) are key. These props are used not only to make asanas accessible to everyone, regardless of age or flexibility, but also to challenge students to understand more.
This class is based on the principles of alignment by B.K.S Iyengar. All poses will be performed to allow each student to receive maximum benefits. Precision and understanding of the body are critical.
Kundalini yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is a sacred science that combines postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and the symphonic healing gong. Kundalini yoga was taught to masters only until Yogi Bhajan brought it to the west in 1969, inspiring millions to tap into their inner potential and creative consciousness.
Hot yoga consists of a series of yoga poses done in a heated room. The room is usually maintained at a temperature of 95 to 100 degrees. As you can imagine, a vigorous yoga session at this temperature promotes profuse sweating and makes the body very warm, and therefore more flexible.
Vinyasa means breath-synchronized movement. Vinyasa yoga is more vigorous as you’re required to perform a series of poses called Sun Salutations, in which movement is coordinated with respiration. Vinyasa yoga will typically start with a number of Sun Salutations to warm up the body and end with a series of stretching exercises.
Sound Meditation is a 60-minute class that includes guided meditation through breath work and sound, taking you on a journey through the body, mind, and spirit. You learn to use the voice as a source of personal healing and open yourself to receive the nurturing and healing qualities of sound and vibration.
Our unique Omechaye Style class combine alignment based posture with fluid movement and conscious breathing, promoting a truthful practice that is safe and balance, the result of these class will be a blissful heart and a centered mind!
